The Course
This is a one-day teaching course aimed at Echo beginners in acute specialties.
It is suitable for those performing emergency echo, those hoping to proceed to BSE level 1 and those pursuing a career in cardiology.
It involves an interactive lecture-based morning followed by two hands-on practical sessions in the afternoon. By the end of the day you will be:
1. Familiar with standard ECHO views
2. Able to perform a basic scan
3. Able to distinguish abnormalities of the left ventricle, right ventricle, mitral valve, aortic valve, tricuspid valve, aorta, pericardial space and IVC. Also basic abnormalities of lung interstitium and pleural space.

· Dr Kyle McBeath, Cardiology SpR at Harefield Hospital
· Dr Nabila Laskar, Cardiology Imaging SpR at BHC
· Dr Carla Stoicescu, Cardiology Fellow at BHC
The teaching faculty is supported by the Consultant Cardiologist at BHC, echocardiographers and medical students at the Barts Heart Centre.
